RACIAL JUSTICE & POLICE BRUTALITY: James frequently uses his platform to advocate for racial justice. In 2020, he stated that Black Lives Matter is not a movement, but a lifestyle.

GUN CONTROL: After a five-month-old child was killed in a Cleveland shooting in 2015, James voiced his support for gun control: “There’s no room for guns.”

VOTING RIGHTS: In June 2020, James joined other prominent black athletes and entertainers in launching ‘More Than a Vote,’ a voting rights group aimed at protecting African-Americans’ voting rights.

PHILANTHROPY: In 2004, James founded the Lebron James Family Foundation to provide children in his hometown, Akron, Ohio, with the resources and support to succeed in school. The LJFF’s I PROMISE program has been serving a new class of third graders annually since 2011, and the I PROMISE school opened its doors to 240 students in 2018.

ABORTION RIGHTS: After the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade in June 2022, James retweeted a series of tweets condemning the decision and the pointing how restricted abortion access will negatively impact black women.

DEMOCRATIC ASSISTS: James has campaigned for presidential candidates Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020. In 2008, he donated $20,000 to the Democratic National Committee.
