What's her position (off the court)?

Racial Justice/ Equity: Wilson has openly advocated for racial equity on and off the court, pointing out the intersectionality of her identity as a Black woman and the challenges she faces not only due to gender, but race. Publishing the essay “Dear Black Women” in the Player’s Tribune in 2021, the concept eventually progressed into a book. Additionally, when interviewed in May of 2024, Wilson critiqued the double standard when it came to recognizing Black women and their performances in the WNBA compared to white upcoming stars.

Gender Equity/ Equality: With People Magazine, Wilson shares experiences where she began to openly advocate for women’s basketball to be treated with the same respect and attention as it’s male counterparts, including in the NCAA Final Four and WNBA.

LGBT+ Equity: As a member of the WNBA’s Social Justice Council, Wilson advocates for all fans of the WNBA, including members of the LGBT community, to be treated with respect and encourages them to remain true to themselves through adversity.

Anti-Bullying Advocacy: In 2019, Wilson and her parents formed the A’ja Wilson Foundation, a philanthropic organization dedicated to providing resources for and empowering children with dyslexia. Wilson has been open about her personal struggles and the support of USC coach Dawn Staley. The AWF also works to challenge school culture by mentoring and educating students against bullying.
