Anti-Racism Movement: Ahead of the 2020 WNBA season, Cloud announced that she would not be participating for the year. The murder of George Floyd by police motivated a protest of racism in all manifestations and forms in America. Her goal was to focus on social reforms, leading several BLM marches in DC. Cloud has also openly criticized performative activism in anti-racist work, promoting the act of solidarity with deliverable action.
Anti-Gun Violence: Cloud and the Washington Mystics staged a blackout protest to bring awareness and pressure government officials to take steps to reduce violence in the DC community. Attending a promotional event reading to elementary school students in the Washington Highlands area, Cloud was appalled by the children’s stories and immediately made efforts to contact officials and enforce the blackout.
LGBTQ+ Equality: As a bisexual woman, Cloud has been open about her identity since being drafted in 2015. In the same vein, she has offered support to others within the community, expressing her pride and solidarity and encouraging everyone to stay true to who they are. As the Philadelphia 76ers celebrated Pride Night, Cloud had the honor of ringing the Liberty Bell at the event.
Humanitarian Crises: Cloud has vocalized the need for attention and advocacy for Palestinian civilians as the crisis in Palestine continues. She advocated for an immediate ceasefire and an end to violence that has displaced swaths of innocent people. In addition, she has expressed support and solidarity for those displaced and at risk in Sudan and Congo, demanding more media attention to these issues.
